WHO WE ARE

Fundaniños was founded by a group of volunteers who, upon visiting juvenile prisons, sought a way to create prevention programs that would help children in high-risk and vulnerable situations to stay off the streets and have the possibility of a better future.

They began the process to form an institution that would help to legally receive children and help them in their development. All the legal procedures were initiated, starting with the formation of the Foundation LOS NIÑOS DE GUATEMALA (FUNDANIÑOS).

Through Deed 236 dated November 3, 1992, the legal procedures were initiated, which took a year to achieve, on December 14, 1993, through the governmental agreement 143 of the Government of Guatemala, FUNDANIÑOS was officially born, immediately, we went to the juvenile courts to initiate the procedures and receive children.

One of the volunteers donated the land on Carretera el Atlántico, with a small house; another volunteer, with her husband and family, offered to live there and take care of the children. We started with 5 children given to us by the court. Little by little, Fundaniños grew; in 1998 we had the opportunity to move the home to San José Pinula, where we have a two-block property.

Since then it has been operating in San José Pinula with an average of 100 children and adolescents a year, between 1 and 18 years old, who come from neglect, abuse and mistreatment.

Today we have facilities with capacity to house 87 children, we have three children's houses, a social area with its dining room, a computer lab and a school with complete primary education.

Fundaniños is a non-profit institution with no support from any governmental institution that is maintained with donations from individuals and companies with a desire to support.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

With this vision Fundaniños has been created, in order to give children the possibility and hope for a better future. And with our goal to provide happy, Christian and independent children, always supporting to keep groups of brothers and sisters united.
